Do you mean the opening just past Alwaki? I think that's the only way up the lake from there isn't it?

it's not all doom and gloom: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/CAXX2346

Every day for the next 10 days the high is forecast to be above freezing and even the low a few times... some rain, some sun peaking out, sounds like spring is in the air up north

On a side note: what ever happened to global warming? If it actually takes hold we could shift the walleye opener to march and extend the fishing season = jackpot!

'Crazy....the 'entrance' to Hunter's is a couple miles past Alwaki, then through Hunter's toward Butney Narrows. At least 6-8 miles from Sunnyside area...

I was referring to the pics Puckster Guy posted on the other forum yesterday from his weekend at his camp. http://kipawafishingforum.net/index.php?topic=22.0 I guess I may have been jumping the gun if other parts of the lake aren't as clear.

According to Reggie, the ice is gone today,May 9.
That means T-Bone wins his own contest.

Like most contests in life, this was rigged from the beginning... Wink

I also got confirmation from Brian at Alwaki this morning...he called it "May 9th", but suggested I check with Reggie too. So...May 9th it is...

"Wow...what a great Leech Tamer bag!"

77....

Indeed the lake was open on the 9th, put my 17.5 footer in at the government dock at 16:00 hours and was able to dock it at camp behind Bronson Island. Did not see any ice floating however there was some on some shores. Now was the lake open on the 8th, can't say for sure.......
OOps, did I just open a can of "worms?" Shocked

I launched at Kipawa gov't dock on May 10 and boated to Hunter Lake. It was rough going as the wind was whipping the lake pretty good. If there was any ice left, the rough water certainly got rid of it. Only evidence was on the north shores hidden from what little sun we've had.
BTW.....Nice boat Wayne.
